PROJECT 3 - A[LIVE] URBANISM CAPSULE

Expression of space

During the final project, we are required to design a combine space; a workplace where the end-user can work and live under the same roof, with considerations on how to fit it all in and yet achieved good comfort. This task shall give an idea how to cope with small spaces; living in a small space means to focus on good organization as well as design. The most important things to keep in mind are the functional needs, communal needs, personal needs, and privacy needs. Different combination of living are known by creating different plans of the space and using our creative mind to create multifunctional furniture.

The space given will be a two 20-footer shipping containers where we can configure the layout according to the site. The location of the project is in located in between the two rows of shop houses at Ipoh Old Town, Perak that we are  identified during the trip to determine exactly how our ‘urbanism living’ is placed.

SITE VISIT TO IPOH OLD TOWN, PERAK

On 26th of October, we went for our site visit to Ipoh Old Town which is located at Perak for 3 days 2 nights. During the site visitation, we're required to investigate and document on our selected 'TRAIL' with our respective group. I was under C J Lim group and our selected trail is 'Sekeping Trail'.

THE FAMILY ROOM
It is the first stop of our Sekeping Trail. A homely feeling with the design of the bricks walls, white curtains, and the lighting. The unfinished interior design makes the room feel special.
For the shower room, it is designed with the open concept. The users may enjoy the view of nature when showering. It's definitely a new experience to have a bath there.
Going on with the balcony, there is no wall of the side but it's covered with the wire mesh and this gives a sense of nature as the users can enjoy the views of surroundings.

THE COUPLE ROOM
The corridor is unique as it gives a feel like you're in jail with the plain metal doors and the rustic wall. For the room, it's quite small and it can only fit 2 person.

THE ROOFTOP ROOM
It's definitely a unique room as there is a hanging bedroom. There is also an open space area. It has couches which are made up of wires and it gives a sense of traditional feels.

ROOMS BESIDE THE POOL
There is a pool in this container hotel. The rooms there have a rustic design concept but yet modern for the users to stay. It can be separated into small room which to fit 2 people and a family room. For the family room, we can see that the bedroom is at the upstairs and the washroom is located in the downstairs.

ROOMS WITH THE CLOCK NUMBER
This was the last stop for our Sekeping Trail.
We had visited the 3’o clock room. The rooms here give a feels of we’re in the 90’s. The design and furnitures layout make the entire room with the feels of 90’s.
